Taking a break from your usual routine can be a vital tonic.
Dialysis is a tiring and at times difficult treatment. But getting away can give you a lift and the change can give you new energy. But there are a number of considerations when travelling.
First and foremost is to discuss you plans with your medical team. You need be sure that you are fit enough to travel. If you are then here is a list to consider.

Holiday grants
The British Kidney Patient’s Association provides a number of discretionary grants for holiday travel. In order to apply you should approach the renal social worker who can help you submit an application form. You can also download forms from their website – http://www.britishkidney-pa.co.uk/grants.
Holidays
The BKPA gives grants to individuals and families towards the cost of a basic holiday in the UK or overseas. The grant can be used to cover the total cost if it is modest, or it can be used as a contribution towards the final cost of the holiday. We also fund children’s activity holidays that are organised by paediatric renal units.
You’ll need to contact your kidney unit social worker or a member of the kidney care team, as all applications for financial aid should come to us on a grant form completed with their input.
