New Courtyard Clinic Dialysis Facilities Planned
The hospital has given the go-ahead for the final design and project to create a purpose built dialysis facility within the Courtyard clinic. The St George’s Hospital Charity has agreed to raise up to £1 million towards the cost of the unit with St George’s Kidney Patients Association helping and contributing funds. The hospital has committed to meet the balance of the costs through a private sector build and funding arrangement.
The plan is for a 15-station haemodialysis dialysis facility within the existing Courtyard building. This will involve the reconfiguring of the existing waiting areas. toilets, staff facilities, and a seminar room as well as taking over current office space used by estates staff. The HIV team has also helpfully agreed to release some space for use by the renal unit too.
The transplant and other clinic rooms will remain where they are but toilets and the main clinic waiting room will be moved.
We will publish the final design and projects dates once these are received.
These designs are still subject to change….

There will inevitably be some disruption during building works which we will let you know more about nearer the time.
These facilities will replace the 6 temporary dialysis stations in the trailers outside the Courtyard building. There are currently no plans to connect the building to the main hospital buildings.
We also hope to run a small part-time coffee and sandwich bar in the new area.
As part the efforts to fund the new unit, St George’s Kidney Patient’s Association will be running activities in the coming months to raise funds. All support and funds are very welcome.
